...so I recently found out what visual artistic movement my work represents...I've always thought of myself as a surrealist but now I find my work more reflects that of symbolism, a small movement from 1880 to around 1940. The thought processes for my imagery fall right in line with their manifesto which states in simple terms, symbolists thought that art should express more absolute truths which could only be accessed indirectly, using metaphorical imagery and suggestive forms containing symbolic meaning. Although I find the style I produce does not appear similar to it's forfathers, the reason behind this art movement and my own motivations
